I heard a quote the other day that went something like the greatest power we exert is that over ourselves. I love quotes. One will stick in my mind every now and then and bounce around for a while until I see something for myself which makes it ring true.
I’m trying to work something out, not a huge thing, not a major event, nothing earth shattering; however it seems to be turning into a power struggle. The use of delayed messages, stupid restrictions and just overall nonsense seems to be the theme here on their end.
This is where the quote kicks in – in reality there is no power struggle because there is no power over me. These silly little tactics are just that, silly. I have a goal, I have a mission and I am going to get it done, period. Make me jump through hoops, whatever. I want what I want and it is all good intentions so I could care less.
Maybe in my rattle-snaking days (an old phrase from Jake’s dad) I would have wanted to fight and snap back, but the truth is, I don’t care, I just want the end result and then happily go about my business. So the real power here is the power I have over myself in not stressing about other’s issues. To a fuller extent I realize that anyone trying to exert power over you is doing so because they lack power over themselves. That is sad to me.
Every once in a while I will have my own little revelations and I like to share just in case someone is having one of those days; and that maybe, just maybe this might be the thing that makes it a bit better. If someone is puffing their chest and pushing the power struggle thing on you, just remember – no one can exert power over us unless we give it to them. Let them puff and prance, just do your thing, the right way, for the right reasons and happily go about your day!
