My best friend and I were having a conversation yesterday much like most of our conversations: it started with one topic and ended in a completely different direction. I think it is a knack for women, we can jump to unrelated subject so easily and do not understand why men don’t get this – it makes sense to us! Girl World is a scary place, I know.

Any way, we ended up with her making the statement that her husband is the exact same as he was 20 years ago. I’ve met her husband, I’ve talked to him and spent time with him, and she is not exaggerating, she is right. All that happened in her husband’s world is 20 years got tacked on. Seriously.

He thinks this is a good thing, the only bad is he can’t do things like he used to when he was in his 20’s. I, for one, am really glad that I cannot do the things I did in my 20’s – it is kind of amazing any of us survived our 20’s when you think about it… but that is the subject of a whole other blog…

Back to point, I do not know how someone does not change. I think it takes more effort to fight it rather than just give in and try it. When I fight change I end up getting my tushy handed to me. I have found by embracing it, even with a forced smile, it has produced some really great results.

So my question is this: why fight it? Unless you want to live in a very isolated world, change is necessary. So why do so many fight it? Personally, as a very stubborn person I’m not all that crazy about change.

There are some things that I have decided to make into a game. I know there things I need to change so I tell myself that I’m just trying it as an experiment or as a future chapter in my book. That seems to help trick myself into giving it a little more go. I’ve also decided I don’t want people to look at me in 20 years and say I haven’t changed a bit, well, I want to stay the same size. Other than that, I don’t want to be in the same place in 20 years. I’m going to be in a better place because these chapters are racking up and proving to be a lot of fun!
