Why Do We Hate Mondays?

So often you hear people grumble about Mondays. If someone posts a “Happy Monday” it is normally met with a glare, snide comment or something un-publishable! Poor Mondays, why do we hate them so? Because the weekend is over – well, we had all Sunday to figure that out. Because it is the start of the work week – well, we have to start somewhere!

I think Mondays are our little “do-over” days. We get to start a new week fresh and anything we did not accomplish or succeed to our satisfaction during the last week we get a whole new chance this week. For example, I had emails from last week that I did not return so today, that was my first priority. I sat down and cleaned out my inbox, responded to every one of them!

And it felt great to accomplish that…until my computer decided it, too, did not like Mondays and started rejecting the emails, several were returned undeliverable. No worries, I’m just going to shut it down, get on the treadmill for a couple of miles, then come back fresh.

I am a big believer on the first step of change is your attitude. So today, this Monday, try something new. Try looking at this Monday as a do-over, a fresh start! If nothing else, look at it this way – you are one day closer to the weekend!
